Policy #2 - Assist through affiliation programs
Women'sNet, a women’s rights organisation that works to advance gender equality and justice in South Africa through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) has a similar initiative “Keep Your Chats Just That” a campaign that empowers South African girls and boys as well as their parents and educators with information and tactics to keep their children safe when using social networking tools with computers or mobile phones.
Daughter project of WomensNET, Girls’Net is a multi-media programme for young girls aged between 10-18 and provides them with skills and opportunities to use ICTs for their own development. Girls'Net has direct involvement and intervenes with issues especially in the field of ICTs that affect young girls. This initiative works hand in hand with Auranet’s Keeping Kids As Kids initiative of informing, aiding and protecting our youth against the exposure and exploitation of women and children.
